The Buccaneers’ Retired Jerseys

A CPA from Scarborough, Maine, Richard McCarthy leverages his education and wealth of experience in finance and accounting to inform his role as the CFO of Avery Investments, a commercial real estate investments company. Outside of his work, Richard McCarthy of Scarborough, Maine is a huge fan and a season ticket holder of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers, or “Bucs,” are a professional football team that competes in the National Football League (NFL). The Bucs have produced some of the finest football players in the league. Some have been honored to have their jerseys retired by the Bucs.

Lee Roy Selmon was the Bucs’ first-ever draft pick and the team’s defensive lineman from its inaugural season in 1976 until 1984. Selmon earned some important league honors in his career. He was named to the All-Pro first- or second-team five times, appeared in the Pro Bowl for six consecutive years from 1980 to 1985, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995. The Bucs retired his jersey #63 on September 15, 1986.

Hall of Fame inductee Warren Sapp donned jersey #99 when he played for the Bucs in his first nine seasons. Sapp became an important fixture in the Bucs’ interior defense since his rookie year in 1995. Sapp has racked up 96.5 sacks in his 13-year career. He was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 and belonged to an elite group of athletes to be enshrined into multiple All-Decade Teams (the 1990s and 2000s). The Bucs retired his jersey on November 11, 2013.

Selected by the Bucs in the 1995 draft, Derrick Brooks played as the Bucs’ linebacker from 1995 to 2008. Brooks never missed a game in his 14-year career and started in all 224 games. He was the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2002, named to the All-Pro six times, the All-NFC eight times, the All-Decade Team of the 2000s, and the Hall of Fame. The Bucs retired his jersey #55 on September 14, 2014.

Real Estate Syndication and Advantages

Richard McCarthy is a resident of Scarborough, Maine, and an accomplished finance professional with over two decades of experience. In 2019, Richard McCarthy became a founding member and CFO of Avery investments, a company focused on commercial real estate and syndication investing.

Real estate syndication occurs when individuals or organizations bring together their finances and resources to invest in properties and projects that none of the parties could pay for independently.

The transaction occurs between a sponsor and a group of investors, also known as limited partners. The sponsor is responsible for scouting and finding suitable and appropriate properties, raising funds, and managing the day-to-day operations of the investment. On the other hand, the limited partners or passive investors provide 80-90 percent of the required capital to acquire the property. They are awarded ownership shares in return for their financial input, depending on the number of potential parties and the investment amount.

Although the sponsor and the investors are usually the main parties in a real estate syndicate, sometimes there is another party involved, known as the joint-venture partner or equity partner. The responsibility of an equity partner is to ensure that proper communication and transparency exist between the sponsor and the investors. They also assist the sponsor with reporting, accounting, and taxes.

Real estate syndication benefits include the ability to invest in larger projects, onsite and professional management, passive income, diversification, appreciation, and tax advantages.

Boutique Hotel Differ from Regular Hotel

A resident of Scarborough, Maine, Richard McCarthy is the CFO at DLTC Healthcare. He is also an entrepreneur who co-founded real estate investment firm Avery Investments in Scarborough, Maine. Richard McCarthy’s company plans to grow its real estate portfolio by investing in boutique hotels on the East Coast.

Several things make a boutique hotel different from a regular hotel, among them is the number of rooms a boutique hotel has. Boutique hotels usually have ten to a hundred rooms compared to regular hotels, which can have anywhere from 100 to 300+ plus rooms. Because of their small size, boutique hotels can offer their guests more personalized services, unlike regular hotels, which find it hard to meet the specific needs of each guest.

Boutique hotels are also more stylish than regular hotels, and often the first thing you’ll notice once you step into one is the trendy interior design spread across the hotel rooms. Because of their large size, regular hotels are unlikely to have a unique theme style in all rooms because of costs.

Other things that make boutique hotels different from regular hotels are they’re more pet-friendly, meaning you can travel with your pet if you’ll be staying at a boutique hotel, and the hotels are often 10 to 20 percent cheaper than regular brand hotels.

Set Up a Herb Garden

Having obtained an MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, Richard McCarthy now serves as the chief financial officer of Avery Investments. Richard McCarthy, a resident of Scarborough, Maine, enjoys playing golf and gardening in his free time.

Herb gardens are easy to start with any available space in your home as long as that space has access to sunlight. Once this is picked out, all left are basic tools and seedlings. Some of the necessary tools include pots, suitable soil, a small amount of fertilizer, a tray to trap excess water, and a small trowel.

Before selecting a pot, confirm that it has enough drainage holes. The application of fertilizer will depend on the instructions written on the fertilizer. You can buy these supplies at the same store where you’ll find your plant seeds.

When planting as a beginner, opt for starter herbs such as rosemary, oregano, thyme, and mint. These plants do not need much attention and thrive in the sun. When you do this, you build your confidence and experience. Other herbs to plant include chives, basil, parsley, and cilantro.

Additionally, it is essential to mix the right soil for your indoor herb garden. A good potting mix will allow proper pot drainage. To avoid flooding your herbs, water them daily with moderate amounts.

Finally, fertilizing helps your herbs grow healthy. However, doing so more than once every two weeks can be detrimental to their natural flavor.
